"Telecommunication Networks" is the introductory course on Data Communications Networking. The second and more specialized course is "Advances in Networking". We follow our book Data Communications Networking. The class on Telecommunication Networks covers Chapters 1-6.

Content "Data Communications Networking"

The course notes focus on the evolution towards multimedia. Principles of the Internet (data/computer world) and of ATM (the telephony/B-ISDN world) are highlights. Although the emphasis lies on the explanation of the network concepts, also current developments are touched upon in order to give an idea of the rapid evolutions in the area of telecommunication.

The learning objective of the course 'Telecommunication Networking' is to understand and to be able to explain the basics of data communication networking. 

The second course, "Advances in Networking" treats ATM and Quality of Service in the next generation Internet. The performance analysis of systems and networks for telecommunication is taught in the dual course Performance Analysis.
